Yoga 101

If you would like to learn some basics of yoga for the first time or refresh or deepen your knowledge of the fundamentals of yoga, you may want to join Yoga 101.  It will take place Thursdays, 5:30 – 6:45pm at Arsenal Hill Community Center located at 1800 Lincoln (the corner of Lincoln and Laurel Streets, directly across from the fountain at Finlay Park).  Yoga 101 will look at:

  • Proper alignments for postures (asanas)
  • Coordinating movement and breath
  • Yogic breathing techniques (pranayama)
  • Asanas for specific areas of the body
  • Basics of meditation
  • Calming self/releasing stress through yoga
  • Energizing self through yoga
  • Deep Relaxation
  • Using sound to deepen practice
  • Increasing awareness of self and ability to self monitor
